Finding Home

This piece is made up of 1000 folded origami cranes using 4″ x 4″ papers, shaped and then glued to a framed wood panel. It is my first origami art work and took about 2 months to make. Folding the cranes became a mild obsession but there was something calming and meditative about repeating a sequence over and over again striving for perfection. When I was done folding and the panel arrived…, well what do now? I have to say I never thought as much or as little about composition. It was a single sketch on the back of a receipt which took less than a minute. But wasn’t I working through the composition in my mind, the story, the drama all those hours while folding? Process photos of my next origami work on Instagram!
